Joseph E. Stiglitz – urodzony w 1943 roku amerykański ekonomista. Laureat Nagrody Banku Szwecji im. Alfreda Nobla w dziedzinie ekonomii za analizę rynków charakteryzujących się asymetrią informacji, którą otrzymał razem z George’em Akerlofem i Michaelem Spence’em. Od 2003 roku posiada tytuł profesora akademickiego Columbia University, był również głównym ekonomistą Banku Światowego.
